The above is a list of manufacturers whose products consistently perform well with security patches and Vanderbilt's antivirus software. For more information on securing your machine for ResNet see the ResNet security pages. You may still purchase systems from other vendors. However, the ResNet support staff will be trained on these systems specifically, and will be able to provide a higher level of support should you encounter any problems. Whichever manufacturer you choose, it is strongly recommended that you purchase an extended on-site warranty service (3-4 years). On-site service is important as taking a system off campus or sending it through the mail is difficult and time consuming.
